Ruffles Done Right

I can't say I've ever been known to rock the ruffle look on any occasion and that includes my accessories. But while browsing websites looking for just the right flight jacket, I came across this Ruffle Front Satin Jacket from Forever 21.

I'm not exactly sure why, but I utterly adore this and believe I might actually be able to pull it off. I think ruffles are hard to balance when you're past a certain age...like 2. I love the femininity of ruffles but never want to appear overboard or juvenile which is why I think this jackets speaks to me. It's just edgy enough but indulges my girly side with both the satin material and playful ruffles. And at a price tag of less than $25, it's an affordable addition to my winter wardrobe which has seriously been in need of a pick me up since moving back to a cooler climate. And this jacket is just the ticket!

Courtney Cox and Cougar Fashion

Courtney Cox (source)

Courtney Cox is shooting a new television sitcom in which she will be playing a cougar in an upcoming series “Cougar Town” on ABC. Photos of her filming on the Cougar Town set can be seen at newtotv.com. I absolutely love the ensemble seen above. The Diane von Furstenburg dress looks stunning on her. Even with slippers!

The devil’s in the details however with her beautifully chosen accessories. While I’m all for classic gold chain link necklaces, I really adore the Turtle Necklace that accents the larger piece perfectly. To get the look, check out Adina Reyter’s Turtle Necklace. At $45, this is one summer accessory that’s both cute and affordable.

Diane von Furstenberg Sutra Look for Less : DINZ by Adina Reyter

If you haven’t seen the August 2009 issue of InStyle Magazine, you may have missed the cameo of one of my all time favorite bracelets, the DINZ by Adina Reyter Elsie Large Oval Bracelet. While I personally don’t wear a lot of gold tone jewelry, this piece has been a staple in my jewelry collection since Adina Reyter debuted the DINZ Line early this spring.

This mega-chain bracelet is right on trend as statement jewelry remains incredibly popular. Big and bold continues to dominate the necklines, wrists and fingers of your favorite, starlets, fashionistas and runway models this year. The best part about DINZ by Adina Reyter is the price. This soon to be staple of your jewelry collection is priced at $45. This makes the piece within reach of most of us.

It always reminded me of the Sutra Bracelet by Diane von Furstenberg The Sutra will set you back $14,000.00. No, I did not misplace a decimal….it’s $14,000.00. To get the DVF look for less, visit shopdistinction.com and check out the Elise bracelet and see for yourself why InStyle chose this magnificent piece for their story.

Bring On The Rain......

The clouds are quickly rolling in right now and we are just moments away from a serious down pour. It made me realize that the beige, over sized, rain-resistant men's jacket I've been using for the past several years as a rain coat needs to go.

So in search of something new and cute, I headed over to Patricia Fields Boutique and found the following fabulous raincoat for only $15! How cute is this? What a find!

Five Fashion Must Haves

Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy

So I was watching a segment on The Today Show that illustrated the 5 Fashion Must Haves for any girl's closet. So let's see...

1. The Dress. Check
Mine is not a little black dress but a little blue silk one that I adore.
2. Statement Jewelry. Check
I am obsessed with large cocktail rings. Hence my repeated blog posts on my favorites from Tiffany's. I can't afford them though. As I've said in the past, it's like taking a bullet every time I get notifications of their latest collections. :)
3. The Perfect Jeans. Check.
I love my 7 for All Mankind Crystal Jeans. Only I seem to appreciate the peridot crystal design on my hips, but they fit me like a glove and they are sooo comfortable.
4. The Bag. Um, check, check!
I own a handbag boutique. Enough said. :)
5. Shoes. Er, um...yeah, I got nothing.
I have never been a shoe girl. Ever. Boots, yes. Carrie Bradshaw shoe fanatic..no. Not even close. I happily wear my flat black sandals from Payless all summer long. But if I were a shoe girl, I would buy them from Izzy Magie because I adore Suzi the owner. She has fabulous shoes. If you haven't shopped with her, be sure to check her shoe boutique.

My New Discovery...Glass Jewelry

Curly Q Pendant with Silver Chain $39

For jewelry, you'll normally find me wearing either Adina Reyter or something from my vintage collection. I was recently introduced however to Glass Jewelry from Jill who owns Glass Jillery. We got to talking one day and I happened to learn she makes glass jewelry, mainly pendants. The piece she was wearing was absolutely stunning. So she shared with me her current collection and I was hooked! I had such a hard time deciding which piece to be my very first. It was a square pendant with the most brilliant blue hue. I'll get a picture soon and upload it. I have worn the piece many times in the short time that I have owned it and every day I do, several people as me where I got it. So I wanted to dedicate a post to let everyone know about Glass Jillery.

Right now Jill's collection is limited to Etsy and trade shows, but she is currently working on expanding her online store. I also learned that she will custom create a piece just for you. If you're looking for a specific size, color or style, just let her know. You won't be disappointed. Her price points are also quite affordable as I have yet to see a piece over $39 and that includes the chain.

Sunrise Pendant with Silver Chain $35

Here's a piece I wanted share. Citrus hues are hot right now and this piece exudes in the current trend. If you want to embrace these bold hues but are worried about going overboard, then adding this piece to your ensemble would be the perfect way to capture the trend. Jill also currently has some amazing chocolate and mint color combinations on her Etsy site. Be sure to take a peek.

So thanks Jill! I love my necklace and hope this post helps others find you!

Fashion Finds Eva Longoria Style

Eva Longoria (source)

Bright bold colors are in from your lips down to your toes and of course every accessory in between! A while back I had posted about Eva's Francine Handbag from Coach. While I do like structured bags, the color is what really struck me.

As I look around the boutique here for a more affordable option for myself, I'm torn between three totally different looks and textures but all similar in that grand color. So which one would you choose?

DINZ Line by Adina Reyter at shopdistinction.com

At shopdistinction.com, we love all things Adina Reyter and that includes her latest collection called DINZ. Her DINZ line was created to offer us frugal fashionistas an unbelievable, vintage looking, sophisticated style at a tremendous value! These amazing pieces are all under $65!

While we have her entire DINZ Line available at shopdistinction.com, here is my personal favorite. It's the Elsie Large Link Vintage Bracelet. I was just telling one of the gals I work with at Adina that my grandmother's name was Elsie. This bracelet would have fit her to a tee. It is as beautiful, classy and stylish as she was. And at under $45, what's not to love?

Do you have a treat drawer? Um, no not that kind.

One of my closest friends PJ always had a drawer at her house full of fabulous snacks and treats I would have never discovered on my own. Every time I would visit, I would say a quick hello and go straight for the snack/treat drawer. PJ ALWAYS eats good...ALWAYS! She would get candy to put in the drawer just for me as she would rarely touch the stuff. Me...not so much.

Well here at work, I just realized that I've started my very own treat drawer. You see nearly everyday I cut up a tomato, half a cucumber and some string cheese into a little bowl that I bring to work to munch on. Of course that is not nearly enough and I literally snack all day long. But I also have a huge sweet tooth. Therefore here are the contents of my snack/treat drawer.
  1. Sundried Tomato & Basil Wheat Thins
  2. Dry Roasted Green Peas
  3. Pumpkin Seeds
  4. Trek Mix Bars
  5. Hershey Kisses Snacksters
  6. Freeze Dried Tropical Mangosteen
  7. Dark Chocolate Joe-Joe's With Vanilla Bean Cream - Yummo!!
And hey...don't knock the dry-roasted green peas until you try them! Can't say I would ever have those in my drawer had I not met PJ! I did however discover those all by myself. But she introduced me to Trader Joe's. It was love at first sight. Which is odd because I could happily eat fast food seven nights a week. :) So is it just PJ and I or does everyone have a treat drawer?

My “He’s Just Not That Into You” Text Exchange

Hey Ladies...Did you all catch the movie "He's just not that into you" this winter? If so, I think you'll appreciate the following text exchange I had with my friend Tim. Tim is a great guy whom I dated my entire freshman year at college. While the romance wasn't destined to last, our friendship has. Tim found the love of his life Lisa, whom I adore, many years ago. They have two beautiful children and a happy life together so there is hope for all the single ladies reading this!

Ah, you gotta love him....he's yet to come through on my request for a nice guy for my uber fabulous friend though. :)

Fun Finds under $10 at Avon! Who Knew?

Moisture Therapy Lotion $7.99

Tonight I went online to order a lotion I've used for years by Avon. It's their Moisture Therapy label available in Oatmeal, Pro-Vitamin or Intensive. I've always used the Intensive version as it works remarkably well especially for its price point. It's even on sale right now for only $7.99 in the bonus size. I've spent triple that amount on my favorite scents from Victoria's Secret or Bath and Body Works for about half the size and no where near the moisturizing capability. This lotion works great and has no scent to interfere with the body sprays or perfumes I like to use anyway.

Geometric Linear Earrings $3.99

Well, when on the site of my rep Jan B. from Duluth, I was happily clicking all over the place and kept discovering fun little finds under $10. I scored these really great earring for only $3.99! I love the length, cut of stones and brilliant multi colors. Um..and did I mention they were only $3.99! :)

Salad Shaker $7.99

But my favorite find of the night was this Salad Shaker for just $7.99. While I realize not everyone would get as excited about a container to carry and create a salad as I do, I couldn't help but share this with everyone.

You see I was a big fan of the individual size pre-packaged salads from Dole but I can't find them anymore. In the summer I eat a salad nearly everyday for lunch. It was so easy to just grab a bag that had the dressing, toppings and fork all in one and go. The smaller packs were great because they were the perfect portion for one. The larger bags are just a bit too much for me. Well what's so unique about this salad shaker is that it has an ice compartment that snaps in to keep the salad cool and a compartment for the dressing and a fork/knife! I love it! Now I can make my own in one simple container. I even bought two of them so one can easily go in the dish washer each night while the other is ready with my salad for the next day. :) Mmm...happy, healthy eating everyone!

If you don't have a rep for Avon, no problem! You can easily Click Here to go to Jan's site and everything can be shipped right to you! There is even a promotion going on right now where you get FREE SHIPPING on any order over $30. Be sure to check out Jan's site to discover your own new fun finds!

To Make You Feel My Love

While watching Brothers & Sisters tonight I heard one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite soundtracks "Hope Floats". It was a track by Trisha Yearwood, "To Make You Feel My Love". Her husband, Garth Brooks, also records the single on the soundtrack. Ah, it is such a great song! If you missed tonight's episode, you can watch it here.

"Hope Floats" is one of those rare soundtracks where I like every song. It tops my favorites alongside "Notting Hill", "City of Angels".....

....and my all time favorite soundtrack, "The Lion King". Nope, not the Broadway Version but the original soundtrack. I'm not gonna lie....it's my favorite soundtrack ever! Sorry, but it's simply impossible not to be happy when your singing Hakuna Matata. :)

Baby it's cold outside....

So much for Spring...on the first day of Spring we had several inches of snow. Ugh. Tonight the wind is severely howling outside my window and I'm in under my blanket with the fireplace on. Sigh.

Dear God,

Please let me use less of this shovel

and more of this shovel

Thank you.
Love,
B
