Hey everyone!

While going through some of our inventory for our Disney Couture and Kidada Jewelry line I came across a Tinkerbell Locket Necklace that I thought one of our Couture Avenue readers might be interested in.

One of the lockets doesn't appear to close as tightly as the others. It still closes and if I didn't mention it you may not even realize it, but I thought I would offer a Couture Avenue reader a discount on this particular necklace if you are interested. We'll take $20 off the price to offer it at $29.99 with FREE Shipping. If you are interested in this piece just send us an email. The first one interested can get the necklace for $29.99 (FREE Shipping) through a discount code that I will send you.

Just let me know!

Girlie Dress Forms

I have been eyeing these beautiful dress forms from Pottery Barn for months. I love how girlie they are. While I can't justify spending close to $200 dollars for one, I just had to share!

2009 SAG Award Red Carpet Favorites

Kate Winslet (source)

Kate Winslet has done it again! Besides winning the SAG award for Best Supporting Actress in The Reader, she is my once again my favorite lady on the red carpet at the 2009 SAG Awards. Wow! Her exquisite blue gown from Narcisco Rodriguz was pure perfection.

It always bewildered me when she got flack for her weight. I think she is stunning and I would love to have her shape. I would also love to have her talent, poise, grace and etiquette. She is so polite and full of gratitude that exudes in sincerity every time she speaks. I just love her!

If you missed the awards last night, here are a few other celebrities sharing their red carpet designers with CNN. I know CNN is not necessarily known for their fashion coverage but I am a cable news junkie so this is my source. :)

I Pledge

Inaugural Fashion - Michelle Obama in Jason Wu

Jason Wu it is! This 26 year old designer was the one chosen by Michelle Obama to have his design worn during her 10 Inaugural Balls last night and eventually land in the Smithsonian Museum. Congratulations Jason; the First Lady was stunning!

Check out this video of both Jason Wu and Michelle's daytime Inauguration Day designer Isabel Toldeo on The Today Show.

Michelle Obama Inaguaration Dress

First Lady Michelle Obama and President Barack Obama (source)

Everyone was having a great time guessing what Michelle would wear at the inauguration today. And the winner is......American Designer Isabel Toledo. While Isabel was born in Cuba, she is considered an American Designer. Personally I love the color. I love that she chose yellow (albeit there is some debate whether it is gold or yellow) on this cool January day that has made history. Yellow after all is the color of hope! The core theme of this campaign. She looks stunning. Very classic and timeless. The gloves and shoes are reportedly J. Crew a favorite of Michelle's.

Sasha and Malia reportedly both wore ensembles from crewcuts the children's division of J. Crew.

Louis Vuitton Mahina Handbag Look for Less

Sarah Jessica Parker

Cameron Diaz

We all know celebrities are serious about their arm candy. And the latest piece that has been seen on just about every Hollywood Diva is the Louis Vuitton Mahina Handbag.

Rihanna

This is one amazing bag. The large size, double handles, gathered sides and silver buckle are amazing! And the texture? Don’t even get me started.
:) The $4,200.00 price tag however? Ugh.

If you’ve never found yourself on the silver screen to allow for such extravagance but crave this style; I’ve found some stunning colors in a bag that captures many of the same element but with a non-celebrity price of $56.99 which includes FREE Shipping! Yay!

C3 Collection Cashmere Sweater

Perhaps it's the last 119 hours straight that I have lived through weather below 0, but I really want this cashmere sweater by C3. How cute is this? It makes me smile just looking at it. I can't imagine how I would feel actually wearing it! :)

M2 Design by Mary Margrill

Have you heard of M2 Jewelry (pronounced EM SQUARED)? I recently discovered the line designed by Mary Margrill when I saw her "I Am" Collection. I absolutely love it. Here are a couple of other pieces I really like.

"Love" Diamond Petal Necklace - $785

While the price points are a little higher than I like to carry in my boutique, if you can afford to splurge, I highly recommend it.

Here is an alternative that I thought blended the elements that captured me from the M2 line. It's obviously just a fun, low price point piece, but it would make a great addition to your jewelry collection if you like the look of M2 but can't afford it.

Golden Globes Statement Jewelry

Christina Applegate (source)

We've had quite a few posts on the continued popularity of statement necklaces and jewelry pieces. At Sunday's Golden Globes we were not disappointed! I love the necklace Christina Applegate wore. I also love the earrings worn by Kate Beckinsale.

My favorite of the night was the turquoise necklace worn by Eva Mendes.

While we all don't have a jeweler to donate a stunning piece like this, you can get the look for less with a budget friendly find from shopdistinction.com such as this bold stone and crystal piece.

2009 Golden Globes Best & Worst Dressed

Heidi Klum, Eva Longoria Parker, and Kate Beckinsale (source)

Thanks to omg!, we have plenty of photos of the fashion on the red carpet last night at the 2009 Golden Globe Awards. My personal favorite for best dressed was Kate Winslet. She is stunning and I really love how classy she has always been. She's definitely one of my favorite actresses by far.

Unfortunately I wasn't feeling the Lanvin dress on Maggie Gyllenhaal. She gets my vote for the worst dressed. Although Jennifer Lopez's gold number was a close second.

Melie Bianco Triple Pocket Hobo Handbag

We now have our incredibly popular "Maggie" hobo handbag back in stock. This is such a great bag. I was recently carrying it myself and literally sold it off my back to a super sweet girl who was shopping in my boutique. She liked it so much and we were out of stock that she was nice enough to allow me to simply empty my contents and hand it over. :)

She was with her boyfriend who had purchased a gift certificate for her from our boutique. He had previously picked out a handbag for her that was a hit! Here is the bag he picked out. This is the very bag that shopdistinction.com was featured with in Cosmo.

Wow?  A boyfriend who could pick out a handbag you actually like?!  That's about as probable as finding a good hairdresser for most women! :)   I'm lucky I found Tracy, owner of Illusions Hair Design. I love her and she lets me pay her in handbags. It's a good fit!  Happy Sunday Everyone!

Tiffany & Co. Geometric Heart Pendant Look for Less

You only need to mention three words to any girl to instantaneously release a boat load of serotonin (the feel good chemical) in her brain. Nope, not "I Love You" but "little blue box". While it may mean nothing if you have XY chromosomes, for all of us of the XX type, we know there's an incredibly good chance that little blue box contains something we will absolutely love.

One piece I like from Tiffany is their Geometric Heart Pendant Necklace. While Adina Reyter Jewelry holds the title for the best geometric inspired line, I do like the simplicity of this piece from Tiffany. It retails for $175.

Now $175 in Tiffany language is actually quite a bargain. But it's way too much for many of us in this economy. I found an alternative that even comes with matching earrings for just $9.99 at shopdistinction.com! How bout them apples?! Enjoy!

Diane von Furstenburg - Spring 2009 Collection

DVF Spring 2009 Lookbook #7

It is cold and miserable outside today. Blech. I realized that it is only the second week in January and I have many months of cold, snow and shoveling ahead of me. God help me. I'm not a cold weather girl. Um...at all. :)

So to feel a bit warmer and brighten my day I excitedly visited Diane von Furstenburg's website to check out her Spring 2009 Collection for the 100th time. I'm no where near being able to afford her price points but if I could, there is nothing I don't like about this ensemble. I would buy up every piece including the impossible to look cool while wearing (other than this model) headpiece.

If I had a hammer... I'd hammer in the morning...

Do you remember that song? :) Anyway; How cute is this?! I had an uber cute, tiny flowered hammer that unfortunately got lost during my move from California. Sigh. Oh well, what's a girl to do? Um...purchase this "Little Pink Tool Kit" from Vat 19? OK!

The Little Pink Toolkit includes:
  1. Hammer with rubberized grip - 7oz.
  2. Level - torpedo style with magnetic base
  3. Hex fold-up - 5/32" - 1/4"
  4. Plier - 10" pump style
  5. Plier - 6" long nose with side cut for cutting wires
  6. Plier - 6" slip joint
  7. Screwdriver - 6 in 1
  8. Screwdriver - offset ratchet with 8 bits that are conveniently stored in the base of the screwdriver
  9. Tape measure - 10 feet
  10. Wrench - 6" adjustable
Not only is this necessity super cute, Vat 19 donates 10% of each pink toolkit to the fight against breast cancer. Notice the pink ribbons on the zipper pulls?

I found this kit at Uptown Liz. You may remember me talking about Uptown Liz's founder Ramona Russell in my previous post Uptown Liz, Where Shopping Gives Back. Ramona started Uptown Liz after losing her 28 year old sister Liz to Breast Cancer. This site in Liz's memory promotes products from companies whose proceeds directly give back to charitable organizations. I really like how she has the site designed to allow you to shop by both the traditional category menu, but also by cause. Please be sure to visit Ramona's website Uptown Liz.

Miu Miu Nappa Frame Bag Look for Less

Geri Halliwell

I love vintage bags and the Miu Miu Nappa Frame Bag reminds me of a great classic bag but with really functional features such as full exterior gathered pockets on both sides and an optional cross body strap. It's been a favorite of celebrities and Geri Halliwell has been seen sporting one recently in London.

This bag had me at "frame". I'm a big fan of framed bags but what I find especially appealing about this design is the stricture is only at the top and it's so soft everywhere else. In typical Miu Miu fashion, the bag is hard to find and over the $1,000.00 mark.

Not to worry as we have the look for less with our Josephine Bag currently available in two fabulous colors, Navy and Gray. It's got a budget friendly price of $64.99 which includes FREE Shipping!
